We are committed to the promotion of independent thought through the medium of books, and to maintaining a site where they can be seen and purchased new or second-hand. We aim to establish a source of local information to facilitate genealogical and historical research. We encourage customers' special orders, which we shall fill through independent trade suppliers who will also provide our new stock.
Customer care is really important to us. We are a dedicated bunch of book-loving volunteers, and we want you to feel the book-love too. We pride ourselves on having a friendly and welcoming bookshop.

Privacy & Ethics
Privacy and ethics are incredibly important to us. We will never sell or give away your personal data, and you will never receive unsolicited information from us. We don't like things like spam, or junk mail, or huge newsletters full of stuff we know you won't be interested in - so you won't be getting stuff like that from us.
We respect your data, and your right to be forgotten. We won't keep a file of your details, so please be patient if you have to fill in those boxes each time you purchase from us.
We will always do our very best to behave ethically and responsibly. We recycle, and buy local, and do a whole bunch of stuff to try to save the Earth and the environment. All of our bookshop workers adhere to a set of ethical principles, and everyone is fully versed on current GDPRs.

If you are having a local event (such as an author visit) we can provide multiple copies of books, but we'd ask you to contact us as early as possible. We will give you a quote, and (if we have enough warning) we may be able to offer books on sale or return.
We attend many events throughout the year and are happy to bring our pop-up bookshop to things like fayres, festivals, schools and markets. However, our diary fills up pretty quickly so give us as much warning as you possibly can.
• Credit / Debit Cards - we can take most credit and debit cards, and have contactless tech in the shop, or we take good old-fashioned cash.
